The Internal Combustion Engines section of the REASE group is coordinated by Prof. Giovanni Ferrara, who is the supervisor of all of the scientific activities carried out by 9 members, including research fellows, PhD students and one laboratory technician.

Two research teams actively contribute to the development of applied research projects, aiming at the improvement of all of the main aspects related to the engine functioning, such as gasdynamics, combustion, spray, pollutant emissions and noise reduction.

The Experimental team is responsible for all of the experimental activities carried out at the LInEA (Laboratory of Innovation in Engines and Advanced system for energy) laboratory, with special focus to engine characterization and tuning, acoustic analysis and development of innovative measurement techniques.

The Numerical team is involved in all of the activities regarding the development of advanced 1D and 3D fluid dynamic models, including acoustic analyses and integrated engine/vehicle simulation tools.
